Violence in any form against people is lamentable, and violence against the innocent is tragic. Violence includes the violence of abortion against a mom and her baby, the death penalty, school/church shootings, bombings (in war or elsewhere), illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking, crime, domestic violence, and many others. We call on Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to assist us with a culture of life and love.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" (Matthew 5:9).
Abortion is the preeminent death and life issue of our day, since this violence kills thousands of innocent preborn babies and wounds their mothers each day in the USA (see CDC and the Guttmacher Institute; these data typically include only surgical abortions, which does not count the tens of thousands of chemical abortions each year).
The Catholic Church has done much to provide alternatives to abortion, such as adoption. The Walking with Moms program (www.walkingwithmoms.com) gives ways to assist pregnant mothers who are in crisis.
Hope and healing in Christ are the purposes of post-abortion ministries (for example, https://hopeafterabortion.com or www.rachelsvineyard.org).
"You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb" (Psalm 139:13).
The Value Them Both Kansas constitutional amendment is the most important vote against violence that Kansans have had in the last 50 years. This is why I ask all the priests, parishes and faithful to strongly promote a YES vote on August 2. The passing of this amendment will allow commonsense restrictions on the abortion industry, and help reduce the violence of abortion in Kansas.
May we take courage from the Lord in promoting a culture of life. May we ask Jesus to help us take a stand against the violence of abortion. Let us vote YES on August 2 for moms and babies. Jesus loves all people, both born and preborn. He loves you!
Un voto contra la violencia
La violencia en cualquier forma contra las personas es lamentable, y la violencia contra los inocentes es trágica.
