Greetings in the Lord. We grieve over the election results: the Value Them Both amendment failed to pass. Over half a million Kansans voted to keep a false “right to abortion” in the Kansas Constitution. This tragedy will hurt mothers and their preborn girls and boys.
This NO vote will allow live-dismemberment abortions to continue, will allow the abortion industry to keep parents uninformed about their minor child’s abortion, will allow the abortion industry to withhold critical information from women, will allow the abortion industry to police itself without oversight, and will require Kansans to pay for abortions with our tax dollars.
In the Office of the Readings for the day after the election, St. Barnabas wrote: "Love your neighbor more than your own life. Do not kill an unborn child through abortion, nor destroy the child after birth."
We pray for all the moms and babies who will be in increased danger in Kansas now. Let us stop this trend toward the Culture of Death, with God’s help. "Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live" (Deuteronomy 30:19).
To the YES voters: Thank you for your dedication and faithfulness in trying to assist the human right of the unborn child to be born, and her/his mom to be protected. St. Teresa of Calcutta said that we are called to be faithful, not successful. Let us trust in the Lord to comfort us and give us the wisdom and courage to take the next step in protecting babies and moms. From the angel Gabriel’s message to Mary: "Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus" (Luke 1:31).
To those who have suffered an abortion: There is hope, healing and forgiveness in Christ. Many post-abortive healing ministries help thousands of women and men. Thank you for your prayers and actions in this long journey. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid" (John 14:27).
Let us keep faith, hope and love at the center of our lives. Trust in Jesus our Savior, who loves us, and moms and their babies, more than we can ask or imagine!
A Prayer for Pregnant Mothers
O Blessed Mother, you received the good news of the incarnation of Christ, your Son, with faith and trust. Grant your protection to all pregnant mothers facing difficulties.
Guide us as we strive to make our parish communities places of welcome and assistance for mothers in need. Help us become instruments of God’s love and compassion.
Mary, Mother of the Church, graciously help us build a culture of life and a civilization of love, together with all people of good will, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.
Dolor y esperanza
Saludos en el Señor. Lamentamos los resultados de las elecciones: la enmienda Valoremos a Ambos no se aprobó. Más de medio millón de habitantes de Kansas votaron para mantener un falso “derecho al aborto” en la Constitución de Kansas. Esta tragedia dañará a las madres y a sus niñas y niños por nacer.
Este voto NO permitirá que continúen los abortos con desmembramiento en vivo, permitirá que la industria del aborto mantenga a los padres desinformados sobre el aborto de sus hijos menores, permitirá que la industria del aborto oculte información crítica a las mujeres, permitirá que la industria del aborto se vigile a sí misma sin supervisión, y exigirá que los habitantes de Kansas paguen los abortos con nuestros impuestos. En el Oficio de las Lecturas del día después de la elección, San Bernabé escribió: "Ama a tu prójimo más que a tu propia vida. No mates a un niño por nacer mediante el aborto, ni destruyas al niño después del nacimiento". Oramos por todas las mamás y bebés que ahora estarán en mayor peligro en Kansas. Oh Madre Santa, recibiste la buena nueva de
la encarnación de Cristo, tu Hijo, con fe y
confianza. Concede tu protección a todas las
embarazadas que enfrentan dificultades.
Guíanos en nuestro esfuerzo por hacer de
nuestras comunidades parroquiales lugares
de acogida y asistencia para las madres
necesitadas. Ayúdanos a convertirnos en
instrumentos del amor y la compasión del
Dios bondadoso.
María, Madre de la Iglesia, ayúdanos a
crear la cultura de la vida y la civilización
de amor, junto con todas las personas de buena
