For all your goodness, I will keep on singing: ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.” These lyrics are from the praise and worship song “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord),” by Matt Redman and Jonas Myrin. The hymn is inspired by Psalm 103:1-5. Praise and worship songs focus on the Lord’s goodness, majesty, compassion and love. We give an outpouring of devotion to our Loving God.
This column is the third in a series entitled “The One Who Sings Prays Twice,” a saying often attributed to St. Augustine. I previously looked at a traditional hymn and a contemporary hymn. Whatever your favorite hymns or type of hymn, we are called to: “Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; sing of his glorious name; give him glorious praise” (Psalm 66:2).
Back to “10,000 Reasons:” We praise God continually: “… a new day dawning, it’s time to sing your song again … let me be singing when the evening comes.” St. Paul teaches to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). If we have the Lord in our hearts in song, we can face all the sorrows, struggles, joys and celebrations of each day. And at the end of our earthly life, “when my strength is failing … still my soul will sing your praise unending.” May we focus on the Lord always – Jesus will assist us, He loves us so much!

Esta columna es la tercera de una serie titulada “El que canta ora dos veces”, un dicho a menudo atribuido a San Agustín. Previamente miré un himno tradicional y un himno contemporáneo. Cualesquiera que sean sus himnos favoritos o el tipo de himno, estamos llamados a: “Aclamad con júbilo a Dios, habitantes de toda la tierra; Canten la gloria de Su nombre; Hagan gloriosa Su alabanza.” (Salmo 66:2).
Volviendo a “10,000 Razones:” Alabamos a Dios continuamente: “… un nuevo día amanece, es hora de cantar tu canción otra vez… déjame estar cantando cuando llegue la noche”. San Pablo enseña a “orar sin cesar” (1 Tesalonicenses 5:17). Si tenemos al Señor en nuestro corazón en el canto, podemos afrontar todas las penas, luchas, alegrías y celebraciones de cada día. Y al final de nuestra vida terrenal, “cuando mis fuerzas desfallezcan… aun así mi alma cantará tu alabanza sin fin”. Que siempre nos concentremos en el Señor: ¡Jesús nos ayudará, nos ama tanto!
