Acts of Kindness. Works of Mercy. Righteous deed (as in the Ash Wednesday Gospel, Matthew 6). We are called to these loving actions in Lent and always; Lent is not just about prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
“Your kindness should be known to all” (Philippians 4:5). St. Paul gives instructions to the community in Philippi about the Lord’s charity. We should imitate Jesus’ profound love in all we do. Sometimes, it is easier to show love in the crisis situations than in the insignificant ones. For example, I presided at the Mass of Remembrance, showing my love to the parents whose children have died. Yet, in my introversion, it took more courage to go and sit with one of the couples at the meal after Mass. Jesus gave me the strength, and we had a wonderful conversation.
For extroverts, it may be a loving act to just listen, and not be the first one to speak, or the one to speak the most.
Let us ask God to give us the courage and patience to do more acts of kindness this Lent. The Lord will help you; He loves you more than you can ask or imagine!

Bondad de Cristo
Actos de bondad. Obras de misericordia. Obras de justicia (como en el Evangelio del Miércoles de Ceniza, Mateo 6). Estamos llamados a estas acciones de amor durante la Cuaresma y siempre; la Cuaresma no se trata solo de oración, ayuno y limosna.
«Que su bondad sea conocida de todos» (Filipenses 4,5). San Pablo instruye a la comunidad de Filipos sobre la caridad del Señor. Debemos imitar el profundo amor de Jesús en todo lo que hacemos. A veces, es más fácil mostrar amor en situaciones de crisis que en las insignificantes. Por ejemplo, presidí la Misa del Recuerdo, mostrando mi amor a los padres cuyos hijos han fallecido. Sin embargo, en mi introversión, me costó más valor ir a sentarme con una de las parejas en la comida después de la Misa. Jesús me dio la fuerza y tuvimos una conversación maravillosa.
Para los extrovertidos, puede ser un acto de amor simplemente escuchar, y no ser el primero en hablar, ni el que más habla. Pidamos a Dios que nos dé la valentía y la paciencia para hacer más actos de bondad esta Cuaresma. El Señor te ayudará; te ama más de lo que puedas pedir o imaginar.
